John’s Quantie award nomination stems from successfully building machine learning programs for clients
The Digital Analytics Association’s Top Consultant award recognizes consultants who lead their clients and their agencies to new places.
The Digital Analytics Association recently announced that Data Science Architect John Carney is a finalist in the Top Analytics Consultant category for this year’s 2022 Quanties Awards—the most prestigious annual accolades recognizing the industry’s best analytics practitioners. John’s nomination is related to his work developing high performing machine learning programs for clients, and his overall ability to evolve analytic programs. He’s also regarded as a Top Analytics Consultant for the many ways he up-levels the team around him, evidenced by how often junior analysts sit in on each other’s code reviews with John—an hour of John’s time feels like an entire bootcamp.
“John, as a mentor, has an uncanny ability to tell you what you need to hear, and not what you want to hear,” Data Science Analyst II Joe Connelly said. “Working under John gives me the opportunity to gain skills—not just technical skills using Redshift, Python, and Docker—but how to improve as a communicator, project manager, and all-around Evolytics employee.”
After years of developing the business intelligence capabilities for a Fortune 500 enterprise company, the clients’ stakeholders asked John to amplify their machine learning initiative. This subscription-based-service client required a set of machine learning models to increase upsell and cross-sell conversions, and retain more customers through personalized recommendations. John’s models were based on defining which customer-lifetime value strategy would prove most successful.
John’s team partnered with the client team to:
- Simplify an existing, unnecessarily complicated modeling framework
- Predict upgrade, cross-sell, and churn prospects
- Personalize upgrade and cross-sell recommendations
- Automate optimizations by integrating models into marketing workflows
- Build the infrastructure and develop a process for model management
- Future-proof models against changes in the organization’s risk tolerance
His team’s best model tripled upgrades, and the overall program saw a 75 percent increase over previous performance in the first two quarters after launch.
John Carney’s machine learning expertise raises the bar for his clients, his peers, and the analytics and data science community. When building a machine learning program and there’s still too much uncharted territory to just Google, John proves that he’s the Top Consultant our clients count on to forge the best solution for their business.
Data Science Analyst II Josh Prock said about John, “Our team is composed of truly intelligent people, but exposure to John’s analytics prowess elevates us all to a higher level. We’re fortunate that he’s so eager and willing to support the advancement of those around him.”
