The first quarterly Kansas City Tableau User Group meeting of 2014 is set for the night of Tuesday, February 18th at the offices of HNTB in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. The meeting will start promptly at 5:45 PM, and wrap-up around 8:15 PM. We are excited to host Dan Murray, author of Tableau Your Data! Dan’s presentations during his current 16-city book tour and multiple book blog tours have touched on topics including:

  • His first Tableau project, and what he learned
  • Getting your organization to buy into Tableau
  • Successful Tableau deployment strategies and tactics
  • Building effective dashboards
  • Dealing with the “data flood”

Following Dan’s presentation, the KC TUG will compete in a friendly, ‘Iron Viz Championship’-like data visualization competition. 8-10 small groups will have an hour to refine their dashboards with the help of Tableau experts, before being judged by a panel including:

  • Dan Murray, Director of Business Intelligence, InterWorks and author of Tableau Your Data!
  • Ryan Sleeper, Manager of Data Visualization, Evolytics and 2013 Tableau Iron Viz Champion
  • Derek Webb, Data Analyst, ATI Testing, where he manages Tableau Server for 125+ users
